Cynthia King
Dr. King is a Professor Emerita in the Department of Educational Psychology and Research at Gallaudet U., retiring in 2014. During her 27 years at Gallaudet, she served as the Dean of Academic Affairs, principal investigator on several research grants, author of numerous publications and developer of instructional materials for students who were Deaf or Hard of Hearing. She received her master’s degree from McDaniel College and her Ph.D. from the University of Illinois-Urbana in Linguistics where she served as a research assistant to Dr. Stephen Quigley. Dr. King was a co-author of Reading Milestones.
Patricia L. McAnally
Dr. McAnally had a 45-year career in the field of deaf education at Illinois State University, University of Minnesota, Minnesota Academy of the Deaf and Arizona School for the Deaf. She was the co-author of two textbooks in reading and language practices in deaf education, Reading Milestones and Reading Bridge series, and RMPM reading assessment. She received the Sr. Mary Delany Emeritus Lifetime Award from the Association of College Educators – Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
Stephen P. Quigley
Professionals, parents, and children who are part of the d/Deaf and hard of hearing community have all been touched by Dr. Quigley’s contributions to the field of deaf education and his impact on the advancement of research in the development of language and literacy. Dr. Quigley created the Reading Milestones program and authored many textbooks, research articles, and professional development. He was a research professor at the University of Illinois and served on many boards and committees at Gallaudet University.
Susan Rose
Dr. Rose is Professor Emeritus at the University of Minnesota. Her research has focused on information access for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, with an emphasis on language development, reading, and modality of coding language input. She has developed programs serving the deaf and hard of hearing education field nationally including the preparation of teachers of the deaf so that they can serve students with additional learning needs, including cultural adaptations and disabilities. She co-authored Reading Milestones, several textbooks, the RMPM reading assessment, and many scholarly publications.
