We believe in educating the whole child and that developing each student’s unique abilities and positive identity is critical for school achievement.

We believe that early access and the acquisition of linguistic proficiency in ASL and English are integral to deaf students or hard of hearing students’ overall development.

Our Process

The Clerc Center will deliver a comprehensive site review and assessment based on best practices within deaf education. Then, we’ll build an action plan based on the strengths and needs of a program, and complete the engagement with personalized support to leaders through coaching and training.

Administrator Summer Immersion Experience

We loved welcoming our first group of administrators to campus this summer for an immersion into deaf culture and education. It was an amazing opportunity for deaf and hearing school leaders to share perspectives and discuss important decisions that impact deaf and hard of hearing students. The Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center at Gallaudet University is a federally funded center with exemplary elementary and secondary education programs for deaf and hard of hearing students and is tasked with developing and disseminating innovative curricula, instructional techniques, and products nationwide while providing information, training, and technical assistance for parents and professionals to meet the needs of deaf and hard of hearing students from birth to age 21.
