Practicums and Internships

The Clerc Center provides a unique setting for outstanding interns, student teachers, practicum students interested in pursuing careers in deaf education or relevant service fields. Placement opportunities at the Clerc Center have included:

  • Student teaching from early childhood through high school
  • School counseling
  • School social work
  • School psychology
  • American Sign Language
  • Speech-language pathology
  • Audiology
  • Physical education and recreation

Placement at the Clerc Center’s two demonstration schools — Kendall Demonstration Elementary School (KDES) and the Model Secondary School for the Deaf (MSSD) — depends on a wide range of factors, including need, availability of supervision, and the practical goals and communication skills of applicants.

If you are an undergraduate or graduate-level student enrolled in an accredited program of instruction preparing you to become a professional in the field of deaf education seeking an internship or practicum placement, you may apply to participate in the Experiential Program.
