    Summer Institute 2006

The 2006 Summer Institute was a huge success. Thanks to all who participated.

Check back in the early part of 2007 to learn about plans for the 2007 Summer Institute.

Summary

Welcome to the Online Registration for Summer Institute 2006 at the Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center.  We thank you for your interest in our programs and look forward to seeing you upon your arrival to Washington, DC!  

We have provided the calendar and information below to assist you with your planning.  At the top of the page is a Workshops tab to give detailed information on our workshops. Some important points to take note of as you make your plans are:

  • Cost for overnight housing and meals are not included in your course cost thus the Clerc Center is NOT responsible for your overnight or meal arrangements. Information is provided to you below to make your arrangements.
  • If you plan to stay in the dormitory on campus at Gallaudet,  arrange for your overnight accommodation and meal plan with the office of Summer Enrichment Programs. They can be contacted via email at summer@gallaudet.edu
  • If you plan to stay at the Kellogg Conference Hotel at Gallaudet University, with a friend in town or at another hotel in the area, proceed with your registration for your workshop(s) here on this website. Click on the "Sign Up Now" button in the upper right corner of this page to move forward with registration.
  • No workshops will be held on June 24 & 25 (weekend) and the holiday weekend of July 1, 2, 3 & 4. The Plaza Dining Hall will be open for meals.
  • To receive PST credit from Gallaudet University, we ask for your Social Security number as a required field during the registration process for administrative purposes.  If you have concerns, please contact Patricia Dabney, Coordinator of Summer Institute at patricia.dabney@gallaudet.edu or by phone V/TTY (202) 651-5855.

OVERNIGHT ACCOMODATIONS

HOTEL
Kellogg Conference Hotel at Gallaudet University has reserved a limited block of rooms for this training. As rooms are limited, it is highly recommended that you make your reservations early. You may contact the hotel at (202) 651-6000 or online at www.gukcc.com.

DORMITORY
Campus Housing has a limited number of dormitory rooms available.  Please keep in mind that the campus dormitory housing does not have maid service.  If you would like to stay in the dormitory please contact Summer Enrichment Programs at http://summer.gallaudet.edu They will assist you with  meals and overnight accommodations.

MEALS
The Summer Institute program encourages all participants to eat lunch together at The Plaza dining hall each day of their workshop.  However, there are several dining options available on campus such as the The Plaza Dining Hall, Snack Bar at the Student Academic Center or The Bistro at the Conference Center.

For participants who stay in the dormitory:

If you plan to stay in the dormitory on campus you are REQUIRED to purchase the meal plan through the Summer and Enrichment Programs office (summer@gallaudet.edu). 

CANCELLATION NOTE
There are minimum and maximum numbers of participants required for this course to occur. Therefore, participants are encouraged to apply early. The Clerc Center reserves the right to cancel training.
