ASL Training and Evaluation

TPD offers a variety of services in order to support ASL skill development among teachers, staff, and families, specifically:

  1. Technical assistance for national mission projects
  2. ASL skills classes for teachers, staff, and families
  3. ASL coaching
  4. ASL "chatrooms" for teaching teams and units at the Clerc Center
  5. Individual tutoring
  6. Videotape lab for ASL skill development

A strength of the program is its emphasis on working with people in their actual communication situations. For example, the ASL coordinator and trainer in TPD work with teachers and staff as they develop presentations, helping them practice and refine their ASL use during the delivery of the presentations. The TPD staff also work with teachers directly in the classroom, and assist them in conveying content information clearly.
