Practical Ideas for the Classroom and Community

For teachers of deaf students, reading Perspectives is like spending time with friendly and knowledgeable colleagues. Articles are contributed by teachers and other educational professionals who share the same concerns and experiences. A practical, reader-oriented publication, Perspectives is designed for anyone concerned with the education of deaf and hard of hearing students, preschool through high school. It is published five times a year.

Dear Perspectives Subscriber,

The September-October 1999 issue marked the last edition of Perspectives on Education and Deafness. Over the years, its authors and editors have provided the deaf and hard of hearing community with much valuable information about the education, and personal development, of deaf and hard of hearing children.

In the winter of 2000, Gallaudet's Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center launched a new magazine called Odyssey. Odyssey features articles on the same topics and by the same types of authors that wrote for Perspectives. Odyssey will also incorporate Preview, the magazine about the exciting national mission work being done at the Clerc Center.

We value you opinions. Please send us any comments or suggestions you have about Odyssey.

I know you'll enjoy, and learn from, Odyssey every bit as much as you have Perspectives and Preview. And we at the Clerc Center look forward to providing you with a dynamic new publication that will keep you informed about the progress we and our collaborators around the nation are making in improving the education of deaf and hard of hearing children.
