Speechreading in Context: A Guide for Practice in Everyday Settings

James Lee

A revision of David Deyo's Speechreading in Context, this paper introduces speechreading concepts and discusses theories in the context of practice rather than in isolation. In addition to activities for use in the classroom or community, the guide also illustrates how parents, teachers, and speech therapists can help students learn alternative approaches and repair strategies when communication breaks down. The activities included are designed for almost any type of program for deaf and hard of hearing children or communication philosophy.
