Kendall Athletic Recreation Program (KARP) Wildcat paw

The sports athletic and recreational programs are an integral part of the extensive extracurricular activities offered at KDES. By joining a sports team or recreational activities, students learn the importance of good sportsmanship, leadership, discipline, and determination. They also enjoy to the fullest, the spirit of competition, school spirit, and positive team unity.

KDES’ athletic program includes boys' flag football, girls’ volleyball, girls and boys’ basketball, cheerleading, coed track and field, and girls' softball.

KDES’ recreation program is offered to all students from grades one to eight. Activities include kickball, soccer, floor hockey, swimming, bowling, and other fun-filled activities.

Summer Sports Camps and Activities

Flag football, volleyball, and basketball camps at KDES are held each year in late June. The camps provide intensive training for returning and new student athletes.

The 2006 Camp has been cancelled.

Physical Education (PE)

Students take PE throughout their years at KDES. Students learn about a variety of team and individual sports. Both team and individual sports classes introduce fundamental and basic skills, terms, rules, scoring, safety, and etiquette. Students learn the physics of the balls used in the sports, and the history of sports. The many achievements of deaf athletes, and the variety of both national organizations and deaf organizations serving deaf athletes, are discussed. Instruction in exercise, nutrition, and fitness are also included to help students learn the importance and benefit of fitness, body, and health.

KDES is also being proactive by educating our students about pressures related to drugs, tobacco, and alcohol, so that our future students will have the important life coping skills they need to succeed at life.

Wildcat pawWildcat Booster Club

The Wildcat Booster Club promotes the interscholastic athletic program.
The booster club newsletter covers sports updates, statistics, records, and highlights. The club's primary purpose is to promote a closer relationship between and among parents, school administrators, teachers and staff, friends, and alumni.
