This is the E-Newsletter of Gallaudet University's Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center, which works for the education of deaf and hard of hearing students throughout the United States . Students from five schools for the deaf, including the Model Secondary School for the Deaf, who participated in the Utah expedition. Clerc Center news will soon be shared in a new informational newsletter
format called News and Notables. It makes its debut next week and will
provide information about Clerc Center endeavors and achievements, helping
the Clerc Center fulfill its national mission. If you already receive
Clerc Center press releases via e-mail or the E-Newsletter, you do not
need to re-subscribe to receive News and Notables. For more information,
contact: Timothy.Worthylake@gallaudet.edu. --Math, Literature Signing Videos Added to Digital Video Project Site-- Student-signed digital videos, including classic children’s literature in American Sign Language (ASL), math stories, and Les Miserables, have been added to the digital video project site. The videos include: ASL poetry and stories, a digital dictionary, an idiom digital dictionary, Kid Witness News movies, math stories, and multiple meaning stories. The digital video project can be found at: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/dv/.
Info to Go is a centralized source of up-to-date and objective information about topics dealing with deafness and hearing loss for the age group 0-21. The June 2005 issue of the Clerc Center Connection, a monthly publication produced by the Clerc Center’s Training and Professional Development and Publications and Information Dissemination offices, has been posted online. Stories include: “Moving Forward: Promoting Excellence of Students,” “MSSD Students Participate in Geological Expedition to Utah,” “Advanced Placement Students Complete First Year of Program,” and “Are ASL Handshape Stories Part of ASL Poetry?” The issue can be viewed in PDF at: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/tpd/news/June05.pdf.
