This is the E-Newsletter of Gallaudet University's Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center, which works for the education of deaf and hard of hearing students throughout the United States .

-- New Web Pages Feature MSSD's Residence Education Information --

The Residence Education unit of the Model Secondary School for the Deaf (MSSD) now has its own web pages. Information about Evening and After School Programs, the Eagle and Tutor Centers, the Student Body Government, the Junior Black Deaf Association, the Junior National Association of the Deaf, and other Residence Education activities is provided online, as well as contact information. -- SRP, GLOBE Training, Summer Literacy Institute Call for Participants --

Information about the Shared Reading Project (SRP): Keys to Success Training for Site Coordinators is now online. This five-day training program will take place March 14-18, 2005, for participants to learn the skills necessary to set up the SRP at their own schools or programs.  Details can be found at: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/TPD/srptrainingforsitecoordinators.html and the registration form at: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/TPD/shared-reading-project-registration-form-2005.pdf or http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/TPD/shared-reading-project-registration-form-2005.doc.

Another Clerc Center training event is GLOBE (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment), which will take place June 20-24, 2005, on the Gallaudet University campus. This training for science and math teachers of the deaf is a hands-on environmental science and education program that unites students, educators, and scientists from around the world in studying the global environment. In addition, the Clerc Center's literacy workshops have been combined for one week of training called the Summer Literacy Institute, designed especially for parents and caregivers, educators, and other professionals who work with deaf and hard of hearing students. The Summer Literacy Institute 2005 will take place June 27-July 1 and include: Literacy—It All Connects, Reading to Deaf Children: Learning from Deaf Adults, Leading from Behind: Language Experience in Action, Read It Again and Again, and more. -- Information About Clerc Center Honors Program Shared Online --

The Clerc Center's Honors Program is now online. An overview of the program, information about the Kendall Demonstration Elementary School and MSSD programs, and Summit 2005 are available at: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/Honors/index.html.

-- Cochlear Implant Education Center's Workshops Open for Registration --

The Clerc Center's Cochlear Implant Education Center has opened registration for two June workshops: "See the Sound: Visual Phonics" and " Spoken Language & Sign: Optimizing Learning for Children with Cochlear Implants."
