Please note: To read PDF files, Acrobat Reader is needed and is available for free downloading at: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readermain.html. --Student-Designed Website Introduces Parent Support Organization -- A new website offers information about the MSSD Parent Support Organization (MPSO), a group designed to promote the school through organized activities. Designed by student Seth Gore, the site includes a list of MPSO members, its schedule, bylaws, and other useful links. It can be found at: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/mssd/Families/MSSDPSO/. -- Info to Go’s Documents About Becoming Interpreter, Noise Revised -- Info to Go is a centralized source of up-to-date and objective information about topics dealing with deafness and hearing loss for the age group 0-21. The following Info to Go web pages were added or updated in October: -- Becoming a Sign Language Interpreter (http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/InfoToGo/357.html) -- Noise and Hearing Loss (http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/InfoToGo/053.html) -- Upcoming Conferences and Exhibits (http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/InfoToGo/conflist.html) For more information about Info to Go, visit: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/InfoToGo/index.html. -- MSSD Admissions Open Houses Described in New Web Page -- MSSD will host three Open Houses this school year (November 19, March 18, and April 29) and details are provided online. -- KDES Presents New ‘Especially for Families’ Web Page -- Kendall Demonstration Elementary School (KDES) now offers a web page especially for families. It includes links to the school calendar, the parent-student handbook, MSSD athletics, key contact information, KDES athletics, The Wildcat Weekly, and additional resources. It can be found at: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/KDES/Families/index.html. -- Essay Contest Page Expanded with Frequently Asked Questions -- Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) have been added to the web page that gives details, including the entry form, rules, and contact information, for the 2005 essay and art contests sponsored by Gallaudet. The FAQs, which will expand over time, can be found at: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/WorldAroundYou/essay-FAQs.html. More information about the essay and art contests can be found at: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/WorldAroundYou/essay.html. -- Happenings Includes Announcement of Essay, Art Contests -- A regular feature of On the Green (http://pr.gallaudet.edu/otg), a publication for Gallaudet University faculty and staff, the Clerc Center Happenings column posted in October discussed the Gallaudet-sponsored art and essay contests for deaf and hard of hearing teenagers.
