The resources section of the KidsWorld Deaf Net E-Document Cochlear Implants: Navigating a Forest of Information…One Tree at a Time has been modified. Changes, including revisions to “Suggested Scales of Development and Assessment Tools” and “Additional Resources,” were made to the English and Spanish versions of the document, which is designed to assist parents and educators in navigating the way through the extensive “forest” of information about cochlear implants. The Clerc Center celebrates three years of website news. Started in July 2001 to keep its website viewers up to date on what’s new or recently revised on the Clerc Center site, the E-Newsletter has been e-mailed more than 40,500 times as well as viewed online. Online courses for fall 2004 include “Cochlear Implants & Children: Considerations for Implantation and Educational Planning,” “Literacy—It All Connects Online,” and “Reflective Teaching for a Peaceable Classroom.” “Shared Reading Project: Keys to Success Training for Site Coordinators” is another training program offered by the Clerc Center. The web pages of World Around You, a Clerc Center magazine for deaf and hard of hearing teenagers, have been updated to include science articles from the magazine’s archive. The articles, by Dr. Harry Lang, are posted in the special “Glimpses of Deaf Lives” section and include “Deaf Inventors Bring Telephone to Deaf People” and “The Nobel & the Deaf.” The articles can be found at: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/WorldAroundYou/science.html.
