-- Deaf President Now Site Set Up for Students, Teachers --

A new site has been developed for teachers and students interested in exploring the Deaf President Now protest and what it meant for deaf and hard of hearing people. It includes a teacher’s guide, activities, resources, and links to related information. The site, guest hosted by Dr. Katherine A. Jankowski, can be found at: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/dpn/index.htm.


-- Details About Week-long Summer Literacy Institute Online --

The Clerc Center has put together a week of workshops, called the Summer Literacy Institute, for parents, caregivers, educators, and other professionals who work with deaf and hard of hearing students. The workshops will take place July 7-11, 2003, at Gallaudet University’s Kellogg Conference Center. -- ‘News, Sports, & Events’ Page Now Includes Press Releases --

The Clerc Center’s index of news, sports, and events now includes lists of press releases and links to previous press releases. -- Team Activities, Curriculum Mapping Among Connection Stories --

The February and March issues of the Clerc Center Connection, a monthly publication by the Clerc Center’s Training and Professional Development office, have been posted online. Story topics include team activities, curriculum mapping, cool Web sites, perspectives on cochlear implants, and American Sign Language information. -- TecEds Collects Activities, Offers Chance to Win Digital Camera --

The TecEds (Technology in Education Can Empower Deaf Students) project is collecting activities that integrate technology into interactions with students. With each database submission, teachers and staff who work with deaf or hard of hearing students earn an entry into a contest for a digital camera. -- Clerc Center Portion of Gallaudet 2002 Annual Report Available Online --

The Clerc Center’s portion of the 2002 Gallaudet Annual Report is accessible from the “About the Clerc Center” page: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/About/index.html. The annual report describes the Clerc Center’s background, its national mission projects, the Gallaudet University Regional Centers, the characteristics of Kendall Demonstration Elementary School and the Model Secondary School for the Deaf, and other relevant data. -- New Cochlear Implants Document, Botball Competition in Happenings --

A regular feature of On the Green (http://pr.gallaudet.edu/otg), a publication for Gallaudet University faculty and staff, the Clerc Center Happenings columns posted in April include articles about a new KidsWorld Deaf Net online document, Cochlear Implants: Navigating a Forest of Information…One Tree at a Time, and the participation of a group of Model Secondary School for the Deaf students in a botball (“roBOT” and “BALL”) competition.
