-- New KidsWorld Deaf Net E-Document on Cochlear Implants Available --

KWDN Cochlear Implants tree logoKidsWorld Deaf Net has posted a new E-Document in its Virtual Library: Cochlear Implants: Navigating a Forest of Information…One Tree at a Time.

The document is designed to assist parents and educators in navigating the way through the extensive “forest” of information about cochlear implants. Information is formatted into modules on a variety of topics, including candidacy, the decision-making process, considerations for the use of sign language for children with cochlear implants, resources, and others. Future modules will include topics that address the Deaf community and cochlear implants and training the ear to listen, as well as a Spanish version of the document. -- Hard of Hearing Students Discussed in Winter 2003 Odyssey --

The Winter 2003 issue of Odyssey, a Clerc Center magazine about deaf education, has been posted online. It includes articles about insights and strategies related to the challenges hard of hearing students have in class, such as “Hard of Hearing Children: Still Overlooked,” “Navigating the Hearing Classroom With a Hearing Loss,” “A Dual Identity Critical for Students,” and others. Perspectives from around the country, the Clerc Center’s training schedule, reviews, news, and a “Q&A” section are also included in the magazine. -- Revolution Play, Valentine’s Party Among New Team 6/7/8 Pages --

The Clerc Center’s Team 6/7/8 has added Web pages about its American Revolution play, Valentine’s party, ‘Great Blacks in Wax’ museum field trip, Colonial America Expo, and Walter Reed Medical Center field trip.

A regular feature of On the Green (http://pr.gallaudet.edu/otg), a publication for Gallaudet University faculty and staff, the Clerc Center Happenings columns posted in March include articles about Christina Burke, a Model Secondary School for the Deaf student who joined the Gonzaga College High School water polo team, and Kendall Demonstration Elementary School Team 4/5’s play, an adaptation of the book The Scrambled States of America.
