-- Jobs, Deaf/Hard of Hearing People Discussed in World Around You --

The Winter 2002-2003 issue of World Around You, a Clerc Center magazine for deaf and hard of hearing teenagers, has been posted online. It includes articles about jobs and deaf and hard of hearing people, such as “Deaf People at Work,” “Summer Jobs,” “Cool Job,” and “Internship: Exploring a Career.” A teacher’s guide is also available. -- Information on National High School Academic Bowl Posted Online --

Information for the 7th Annual National High School Academic Bowl, Mid-Atlantic Regional Competition, for deaf and hard of hearing students is available online. The site includes the schedule, details about the participating teams and committee members and volunteers, and additional information for participants. -- Cochlear Implant Conference Proceedings Offered in Sharing Ideas --

The proceedings from the conference "Cochlear Implants and Sign Language: Putting It All Together (Identifying Effective Practices for Educational Settings)" are now available through the Sharing Ideas series. The April conference, which was hosted by the Clerc Center’s Cochlear Implant Education Center, included presentations, program sharing, and discussion groups. Information—including the course description, schedules, prerequisites, locations, and outcomes—about “Integrating Technology Into the Classroom” training has been posted online. The course, provided by the Clerc Center’s Technology in Education Can Empower Deaf Students (TecEds) project, will take place in the summer of 2003. -- Info to Go, MSSD Students Involved in JASON Project in Happenings --

A regular feature of On the Green (http://pr.gallaudet.edu/otg), a publication for Gallaudet University faculty and staff, the Clerc Center Happenings columns posted in February include articles on Info to Go, the Clerc Center’s informational resource for parents and professionals, and Model Secondary School for the Deaf students participating in the JASON Project XIV: From Shore to Sea study via Internet2.

-- Schedule for Clerc Center’s Training, Technical Assistance Updated --

The schedule for the Clerc Center’s training and technical assistance for schools and programs throughout the United States has been updated online. Offered by the Office of Training and Professional Development (TPD), the training includes: Families Count!, Literacy—It All Connects, Shared Reading Project: Keys to Success, Portfolios, and others. -- MSSD Technology Tour Given to Board of Trustee Members --

At the February Board of Trustees meeting, team 10 of the Model Secondary School for the Deaf (MSSD) provided a hands-on demonstration of how technology is being integrated into classroom instruction at the Clerc Center.
