It includes articles about literacy in the workplace, such as “Bringing Technology to English Class,” “Literacy Skills on the Job,” “Smoothing Out Transition,” and “SSR? DEAR? DIRT? Independent Reading is for Everyone.” Perspectives from around the country, the Clerc Center’s training schedule, reviews, and news are also included in the magazine. Odyssey can be read online at: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/Odyssey/Fall2002/index.html or http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/Odyssey/index.html. -- Decisions of Hispanic Families Paper Available on Sharing Results Site -- A Look at the Decisions Hispanic Families Make After the Diagnosis of Deafness has been added to the Sharing Results online library in English and Spanish. This paper is the result of a study that examined the decision-making process for Hispanic families living in the United States who have a child who is deaf or hard of hearing. It includes families’ experiences in learning about their child’s disability, searching for appropriate interventions, and making choices regarding communication and education. The authors explore the impact of language, culture, minority status, and access to information and services on the decision-making process and offer implications for service providers. The Web site includes tips for using Internet chats to conduct IEPs.
