-- Reggio Emilia Philosophy Discussed in New Spring/Summer Odyssey --

The Spring/Summer 2002 issue of Odyssey, a Clerc Center magazine about deaf education, includes articles about the Reggio Emilia philosophy. The articles include “Bringing a Philosophy Home,” “Principles of Early Childhood Learning,” “Parent Involvement as Inspired by Reggio Emilia,” “From Italy with Hope: A Visit to Reggio Emilia,” and “Developing an Emergent Curriculum,” as well as articles about the Shared Reading Project, “As They See It...” essay contest award winners, and DecisionMaker, a new transition-related product. -- Space, Rockets Project of Kindergarten Class Detailed Online --

Kinderspace 2002, a kindergarten class space and rocket project, is described on a new Web page. The description includes details about how the project was started, making rockets, making space suits, role-playing, making connections, making observations, and more. -- Teens Tell What Hearing People Should Know in World Around You --

The results of Gallaudet’s National Essay Contest are in the Spring/Summer 2002 issue of World Around You, the Clerc Center magazine for deaf and hard of hearing teens. The topic for this contest was “What hearing people should know about deaf people—and why.” This issue focuses on the winning essays, including Jonathan Lai’s “Sympathy? Special Treatment? -- Index of Products in Languages Other than English Now Available --

An index of the Clerc Center products that are available in languages other than English is now available online. While the list will expand over time, it currently includes: the Reading to Deaf Children: Learning from Deaf Adults videotape/manual set, the Shared Reading Project bookmarks, the KidsWorld Deaf Net E-Document “A Look at the Decisions Hispanic Families Make After the Diagnosis of Deafness/Un estudio sobre las decisiones que toman las familias hispanas después de un diagnóstico de sordera,” and others. -- KidsWorld Deaf Net Links on Transition, Family Involvement Revised --

The Useful Links section of KidsWorld Deaf Net, a communication network with information for parents and professionals, has been updated. The Useful Links library is a collection of Web site links related to the Clerc Center’s priority areas of literacy, family involvement, and transition from school to postsecondary education and employment.
