Among its most notable changes are the organization of Clerc Center products by subject in the Information on Deafness listing (http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/InfoToGo/index.html) and the additions of the new Clerc Center logo, “Quick Links” in the left-hand column, and “bread crumbs,” a navigation feature at the top of each page. Features of the revised Web site design (which went public in mid-December) will be added to secondary pages in the months ahead. Feedback about the Clerc Center Web site can be e-mailed to Ken Kurlychek at Ken.Kurlychek@Gallaudet.edu. Gallaudet has also redesigned its Web pages. Its home page can be viewed at http://www.gallaudet.edu/index.html. --MSSD Students Named to Presidential Task Force, Win Awards-- A regular feature of On the Green (http://pr.gallaudet.edu/otg), a publication for Gallaudet University faculty and staff, the Clerc Center Happenings column posted in December explains how Earl Mikell III, a senior at the Model Secondary School for the Deaf (MSSD), has been selected to serve on the Youth Advisory Council to the Presidential Task Force on Employment of Adults with Disabilities. Appointed by U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao, Mikell will act as one of the advisors to the secretary of labor and her designees, including the Office of the 21st Century Workforce and the Office of Disability Employment Policy, on education, training, employment, health and rehabilitation, and independent living issues affecting young people with disabilities. The article can be read at: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/Clearinghouse/Happenings/mikell.html. Another Clerc Center Happenings article talks about Ciara Germany and Geoffrey Mompremier, MSSD students who have won the Iva Johnson Award from the District of Columbia Area Black Deaf Advocates (DCABDA). The Iva Johnson Award is given to deaf juniors or seniors in high school of African heritage for their academic, social, and leadership skills. Both Germany, a senior from Ohio, and Mompremier, a junior from Florida, are involved in many activities, including student government and sports. The article can be read at: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/Clearinghouse/Happenings/bda-award.html. Both articles are also accessible (along with the archives) from the Clerc Center Happenings Web site: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/Clearinghouse/Happenings/index.html. --MSSD Boys Win, Girls Place Second in Clerc Classic II Tournament-- The results of the Clerc Classic II (http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/Sports/clercclassic.html), the second national high school basketball tournament held December 6-8 at MSSD, are available online.
