---Digital Camera Contest Begins, TecEds Database Collects Activities---

The TecEds (Technology in Education Can Empower Deaf Students) project is collecting activities that integrate technology into interactions with students. With each database submission, teachers and staff who work with deaf or hard of hearing students earn an entry into a contest for a Kodak digital camera. For more information about the TecEds database or to see or submit entries, visit: http://clerccenter2.gallaudet.edu/teceds/activity.

More information about the TecEds project can be found at: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/teceds/index.html.

---CIEC Presentations, TecEds Sponsors Web Pages Updated---

During November, the Cochlear Implant Education Center (CIEC) Presentations Web page was updated to include the November poster session, "Cochlear Implants and Sign Language: Meeting a Range of Student Needs." The contents can be downloaded as a PowerPoint presentation (using Internet Explorer 5 or higher) at: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/CIEC/ASHA-NOV-2001.ppt or in Adobe Acrobat PDF at: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/CIEC/ASHA-NOV-2001.pdf. The Presentations Web page can be found at: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/CIEC/presentations.html. For more information about the CIEC, visit: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/CIEC/index.html.

The TecEds (Technology in Education Can Empower Deaf Students) Sponsors page was also updated in November. It can be read at: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/teceds/sponsors.html. For more information about the TecEds project, visit: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/teceds/index.html.

---Software to Go Database Grows, Accepts New Software Evaluations---

Software to Go is a clearinghouse for sharing software evaluation information among parents, educational programs, and agencies concerned with the educational needs of deaf and hard of hearing individuals. The growing database of evaluations, which can be searched by grade level, primary subject area, instructional mode, and/or title, is accepting more entries. Visit:
http://clerccenter2.gallaudet.edu/stg/index.html for more information about Software to Go, to search and read software reviews, or to contribute evaluations.

---Red Cross Support, Parent Weekend Described in Happenings---

A regular feature of On the Green (http://pr.gallaudet.edu/otg), a publication for Gallaudet University faculty and staff, the Clerc Center Happenings column in November describes the Kendall Demonstration Elementary School (KDES) students' Red Cross fund-raising drive. The article explains the "Every Penny Makes a Difference" campaign, how the students learned from the experience, and how the effort raised more than $800. The article can be read at: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/Clearinghouse/Happenings/red-cross.html.

Another Clerc Center Happenings article describes the Parent Weekend held at the Model Secondary School for the Deaf (MSSD) in October. With a theme of "Many Hands Together," the weekend workshops, presentations, and other activities encouraged family involvement. The article can be read at: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/Clearinghouse/Happenings/parents-weekend.html.

Both articles are also accessible (along with the archives) from the Clerc Center Happenings Web site: http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/Clearinghouse/Happenings/index.html.

---Clerc Center Calls for Volunteer Web Site Reviewers---

The Clerc Center plans to give its home page (http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/index.html) and the Info to Go pages (http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/infotogo/index.html) a new look and needs volunteers to review the pages before they are made public. If you would like to review the sites, please e-mail Ken Kurlychek at Ken.Kurlychek@gallaudet.edu with "Web site reviewer" in the subject line.
