Clerc Center's Public Relations and Publications unit performs a number of functions related to information dissemination. Our team responds to inquiries about a diverse range of topics related to deaf and hard of hearing students (under age 21). We also collaborate with authors from within the Gallaudet community and around the nation to design, produce, and disseminate books, videotapes, periodicals, and other information related to deaf and hard of hearing children, their families, and other professionals who serve them.

Responding to Inquiries

Our staff responds to a wide range of questions from the general public and the professional education community about the education of deaf and hard of hearing children. Questions are answered by individuals with broad knowledge and specialized training who responds personally to each request, sometimes referring questions to other organizations or agencies. Information is also available online through the Clerc Center's Info to Go site.

Products

The Public Relations and Publications team distributes, either by sale or for free, more than 70 informational products. Product topics include literacy, transition, deaf culture, communication, assessment, family involvement, and professional studies. Products include instructional videotapes such as Reading to Deaf Children, Learning from Deaf Adults; books such as Educating Deaf Children Bilingually and Starting With Assessment: A Developmental Approach to Deaf Children's Literacy; manuals; the Sharing Ideas series of occasional papers; the Sharing Results series of occasional papers; and fact sheets of various kinds from Info to Go.
