The 1st Annual Middle School Academic Bowl was a major hit. All students
enjoyed themselves. The competition started on Tuesday and lasted until
Friday. The questions were collected from the teachers on Team 6/7/8 and
the C.E. teachers. These questions were based on what the students had
learned this past year.
The first three days of competing was in a round robin format with teams
trying to gather as many points as they could. The top team from the Blue
Division and the top team from the Gold Division played in the championship
match on the last day. A third place match featured the second place teams
from the Blue and Gold Divisions.
All the adults watching the matches agreed that each team did well working
together. Teams could be seen discussing answers to the questions, cooperating,
and taking turns. Communication was very good too. That’s why it
was hard to decide which team had the best teamwork.

Congratulations are in order for Blue Team #1. They are the winners of
the 1st Annual Middle School Academic Bowl. The members of that team were:
Merime Ahmed, Alicia Balzer, Jake Bailey, Cierra Cotton, Sean Harden,
Karina Martin, Sylvester Spencer, and Fred Ussery. However, congratulations
are in order for everyone who participated in the Academic Bowl. Each
and every one of you did a great job!!!
I also would like to thank once again all the parents, teachers, staff,
and friends who so generously volunteered some of their time to ensure
that the Academic Bowl was a success. We are already looking forward to
next year!!!
