Information for Employers and Supervisors

The job market of today is changing at a rapid pace. In order to properly prepare our students to succeed in postsecondary or employment settings, new educational initiatives are needed. Employers need to inform schools of their needs, students need to be exposed to “real work,” and connections need to be forged between school, work, and communities.

What the MSSD Internship Program
Offers Employers . . .

  • Your company, organization, or program can provide a valuable working experience for a deaf or hard of hearing MSSD student.
  • Interns who volunteer their services in exchange for valuable work experiences,
  • Interns who have skills to match your job requirements,
  • Interns who provide their own transportation to job sites,
  • Transition counselors who advise on communication needs for hosting a deaf or hard of hearing intern,
  • Transition counselors who provide support for both the employer and the student throughout the internship.

What Employers
Offer Interns . . .

  • Employers provide interns with training and on-the-job skills to help them make a significant contribution,
  • Employers give the intern valuable infor-mation on job performance through an evaluation at the end of their internship.
