         One of the ancient wonders of the world are the pyramids in Egypt.  We have heard stories over and over again about why they were built and what they are for.  Using the artifacts modern day people have tried to determine how and for what the pyramids of the third and fourth dynasty were built.
Have you ever wondered why they were built? What they were made of? Who used them anyway? Why are they shaped that way? 
   In this Web Quest you and the other members of your group will be researching the pyramids and becoming the "local expert" on one component  of the building.

As a result of this Web Quest your group will be preparing a five paragraph persuasive essay ton the topic you have been asked to research.  In addition your group will be asked to create a Power Point or other Multimedia Presentation and convince the Queen that your group is right, and your groups ideas should be followed.

Process



In order to complete this Web Quest you must complete the following tasks.
 

Step 1  Follow the links below to search the World Wide Web
Step 2 Fill out the question page on your topic.  Make sure you put down the website where you found your information (Materials Shape Function)
Step 3  Ask the teacher to check off your work and then move on to Step 4
Step 4   Complete the Inspiration Web for your topic
Step 5 Turn in your Inspiration Web to your teacher to be checked off 
Step 6 Change your Inspiration Web to outline form.  Print it out. 
Step 7 Use your web or outline to write a five paragraph essay.  Make sure you use all the steps in the writing process.  Make sure that EVERYONE in your group fulfills their roles
Step 8 Create a Power Point, Hyperstudio or eZedia presentation for your group.

Students' Roles
Role 1 Writer:  This person will be in charge of taking notes and coordinating the efforts to actually write the five paragraph essay as well as the text within the MultiMedia presentation .  Before the essay can be typed, it must be approved by all members of the group
Role 2 Images:  This person will be responsible for finding or developing the images to be used both in the essay as well as the MultiMedia presentation.  Both the essay as well as the presentation MUST include images, either hand drawn, photographs or computer graphics
Role 3 Layout:  This person is in charge of designing the visual aspects of the essay as well as the presentation.  He or she will pick the font, determine the colors of your presentation and decide where the pictures should go.
Role 4 Editor:  This person has the job of checking the essay and presentation for any mistakes that may have occurred.  It is this person's job to make sure all links work, and that the spelling and grammar is correct.  It is also this person's job to make sure that work is completed ON TIME!

Conclusion


At the end of this Web Quest you and your group members will make a presentation to the Queen using the Power Point or other MultiMedia presentation that you created.
In this presentation you must convince the Queen that your position on the topic that was researched is correct.  You and the other members of your group must make sure that you address counterpoints to your argument
