2008 Summer Institute
The Clerc Center invites you to its Summer Institute, a dynamic learning retreat on the campus of Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. Choose from a variety of workshops, over a span of four weeks, tailored to the needs of educators and professionals working with deaf and hard of hearing students. Enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and workshops led by dynamic presenters. Learn innovative approaches and techniques you can apply to your classroom, school, or program. As an added bonus, many of the trainings offer Professional Studies Credits (PST) from Gallaudet University. Participate in trainings by day—and in the evenings and on weekends, enjoy the great tourist sights, restaurants, and shopping available in the Washington, D.C., area.

I am a literacy trainer from the Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center here at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. 

I am here today to tell you about the Clerc Center’s Summer Institute.

The Summer Institute is designed for educators, administrators, psychologists, counselors, and professionals in the field of technology who work with deaf and hard of hearing students.

We offer specially priced packages when you enroll in two or more workshops.

The trainings include four different categories:

  • Reading and Literacy Development
  • Innovations in Mental Health
  • Cochlear Implant Education and Visual Phonics
  • Science and Technology Education

Our workshop leaders are experts in their content areas and experts at making learning fun.
