NATIONAL MISSION DOCUMENTATION
How’s it going?!

By Janne Harrelson

As the school year draws to a close, it is important to make sure that you have completed all National Mission documentation for the year (October through June)… leaving only those activities that occur during the summer for final documentation (June through September).

Let’s review… What should be documented?

If you provide the following types of services to people who are from other schools/programs/agencies outside the Clerc Center, document them!

  • Conduct workshops
  • Teach courses (at Gallaudet or other institutions)
  • Provide consultation services
  • Assist with problem solving
  • Market Clerc Center products, publications, services
  • Write/edit/create Web pages
  • Provide training
  • Supervise/coach interns and practicum students*
  • Provide planning assistance
  • Serve on professional committees
  • Give a performance or a demonstration
  • Meet with visitors*
  • Present at conferences
  • Provide technical assistance
  • Conduct needs assessment
  • Coordinate staff exhibits
  • Write/edit an article, publication, or product
  • Share information; respond to inquiries
*NOTE: To make your lives easier, visitors coordinated by Patricia Dabney and interns/practicum students coordinated by Marilyn Galloway are documented by Pat and Marilyn, respectively.

Where do you document this information? Use the Activity Summary and Contact Log databases on the Web at: http://clerccenter2.gallaudet.edu/index.html. Paper forms are also available from the program managers’ offices, TPD, and other locations.

Questions? Need help getting started? Need ideas for making this process easier?

For a quick tutorial getting into the database, contact Bill Humm in ISCS. For discussion about WHAT to document, contact Chuck Kelley in TPD.

Stay tuned to e-mail for regular updates and responses to frequently asked questions about this process.
