What's up with AFG?

As you already know, AFG stands for Accreditation for Growth. The Middle States Association (MSA) is the entity that accredits KDES and MSSD. They offer different protocols to apply for reaccredidation and we have selected AFG. It's a strategic planning process that focuses on student performance through an ongoing review of programs and services. We will be completing the various requirements of this process throughout this academic year and into the summer. These requirements include establishing a planning committee (see opposite page), conducting a standards review, establishing student performance objectives, developing action plans and compiling a report before the site visit next year. It's an exciting process that will help us determine where we want to go and how to get there. Your involvement and input is vital to this process!

The planning committee held their first meeting on Tuesday, October 23rd. One of the first orders of business was to determine how we will conduct the standards review. We will be soliciting your input as to how well we're doing in these 12 standards areas:

1. Philosophy/Mission/Beliefs/Objectives
2. Governance and Leadership
3. Organizational Design and Staff
4. Educational Programs
5. Learning Media Services and Technology
6. Student Services
7. Student Life and Student Activities
8. Facilities
9. Health and Safety
10. Finances
11. Assessment of Student Learning
12. Planning
