The TPD team prepares welcome kitsThe Office of Training and Professional Development (TPD) coordinates the training and technical assistance that the Gallaudet University Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center sponsors throughout the nation. It also coordinates internal professional development and ASL instruction for teachers and staff within the Clerc Center, and visits to the Clerc Center by educators and other professionals.

The priorities for activities coordinated through TPD are the national mission priorities-family involvement, literacy, and transition. In addition, TPD provides support to identified priorities within Kendall Demonstration Elementary School (KDES) and the Model Secondary School for the Deaf (MSSD), such as authentic assessment, community building , integrated curriculum, and multi-level student groupings, among others. In addition, TPD publishes a monthly internal newsletter that serves as a vehicle for information sharing and keeps Clerc Center teachers and staff informed of new developments and resources related to the priority areas.
