IMPORTANT: The 2007 contest is now closed!
Every year, Gallaudet University sponsors a contest for deaf and hard of hearing students. This year, Gallaudet University teams up with the 16th Winter Deaflympics Organizing Committee to sponsor an expanded contest with special prizes.
Deaf and hard of hearing students can generate personal expression in every category or in any single category. For information on how to enter the contest, select the category of interest to you. The 2007 contest has three categories, where you can:
Please read the contest rules carefully. The rules for each category are slightly different, so make sure that you read them all. All entrants must be deaf or hard of hearing. All students must be 15 years old to enter the essay category, and all students up to 19 years old can enter the art or the sign categories.
The theme for all categories is the same: "going for the gold." Students are asked to write, sign, or produce a work of art to answer the question: “What does ‘going for the gold’ mean to you? How do you go for the gold in your life?”
If you have any questions, contact contest coordinator Tim Worthylake.
After you complete your entry, fill out an entry form and send it to us. Send to:
