COMING UP!

The next issue of Odyssey will focus on:
Phonics and Deaf Children

Jane K. Fernandes, provost of Gallaudet University, will be the guest editor in an issue that focuses on the role of phonics in the literacy development of deaf and hard of hearing children. Does phonics, a method of teaching
children to read by learning the sound and pronunciation of letters and
letter groups, have a role in promoting the literacy of deaf children? What about Cued Speech? What about fingerspelling? In the next issue, authors address these questions and more.
