The Kendall Demonstration Elementary
School (KDES) Library and the Model Secondary School for the Deaf (MSSD)
Learning Resources Center
The Kendall School Library at
KDES and the MSSD Learning Resources Center
(LRC) are part of the literacy program unit of
the Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center.
The primary users of the Kendall School Library and MSSD LRC are Clerc Center
students, teachers, and staff members. They also serve users from Gallaudet
University and other member universities of the Washington
Research and Library Consortium.
Both Kendall School Library and MSSD's LRC provide information resources that
support the curriculum of the Clerc Center's teams. Both the KDES and
MSSD catalogs can be accessed online.
TEAM LIBRARIES
The instructional teams at KDES include Early Childhood Education, Team 1/2/3,
Team 4/5, and Team 6/7/8. At MSSD, there is freshman, sophomore, junior,
senior, and curriculum enhancement teams. Each maintains a team library in
their respective areas. Development of these satelite libraries is a
collaboration with the literacy team. The majority of their collections consist
of literature-based supplements to their curricular themes. [
