Mainstreaming Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students: Further ReadingThe following list contains citations and brief descriptions of suggested readings on educating deaf and hard of hearing students in a mainstream settings. The articles and books shown here are just a fraction of the sources that are available to the public related to mainstreaming deaf children. Check with your local library to locate books, articles, and Web sites on mainstreaming. Although the majority of the entries presented here address the unique characteristics and various instructional strategies necessary to facilitate mainstreaming children with hearing losses in the classroom, a number of these focus on mainstreaming in general. The literature about mainstreaming reflects the impact of Public Law 94-142 and the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) on the integration of deaf and hard of hearing children in the public school in regular classrooms and interpreters.
