Numerous job information sources and listings of available positions
are in existence. This list provides a selection of potential interest
to people who are deaf or hard of hearing. The consumer publications,
e-mail resources, and Web sites identified here relate specifically to
employment possibilities for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. The
national resources are sources of information for employers who wish to
learn more about accommodating individuals with disabilities in the workplace.

DeafNation offers a variety of job listings for deaf and hard of hearing
people. These jobs are posted from various locations all over the United
States. Employers are able to post their job vacancies with minimal
hassle. Sign-in as a member to access the job listings. Registration

NAD provides a “Job Market On-Line” section that has job
listings from all over the nation. The job opportunities are divided
into four categories: education, interpreting, mental health and others.
Employers who wish to advertise their positions can do so by following
the link to “How to advertise in the Job Market On-Line.”
This website also provides further links and information for employers
about the Deaf community and working with a deaf employee.

American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)

This site offers nationwide job listings for different opportunities
related to speech, language and hearing loss. Click on “About
ASHA” and follow the link to its “Career Center.”
The Web site has a section for its student members (although anyone
can access it). It offers tips on how to prepare for a career in the
field of communication disorders. ASHA members can post their resumes
on-line.

This site has a listing of employment opportunities in the field of Deaf
Education. Positions are listed by grade level. Job descriptions are available
for each position. Click on the specific position title to access the
job description. Registration is free and needed to access this listing.
Registered members can also post announcements.
Deaf Digest (Blue and Gold editions) at http://www.deafdigest.org/
Deaf Digest provides job listings in a variety of settings for deaf
and hard of hearing people in its two weekly editions. Employment opportunities
are listed towards the end of each edition. To receive a copy of both
editions by e-mail, go to the Web site and follow the links to the free
subscription. Deaf Digest is also a good resource for current events
and news within the Deaf community.

for people who are deaf or hard of hearing and listings are by state.
Job seekers can also post their own announcements. There are links that
will direct job seekers to other employment listings.

This site lists numerous job opportunities nationwide (some international),
with a particular focus on jobs available in Washington State for deaf,
deaf-blind, and hard of hearing people. Positions for hearing people
looking for work in a deaf- related field are also listed. On the left
panel of the main page, click on the “Job Info” link to
go to the “Job Notice Form” page. On this page, members
can post their resumes or create a short advertisement about themselves
and the kind of job they want, search for job opportunities, get job
search tips, and gather information about employers who are deaf-friendly.

HireDeaf.com is designed as a one-stop career resource center that
offers job services for job seekers and employers. It has advanced privacy
features and career navigation tools. The site boasts of jobs posted
by hiring managers, staffing firms, and executive recruiters. Jobs posted
on this site are for people who are deaf and hard of hearing or professionals
in deafness-related fields.

to career development, job centers, and other useful resources both

National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) Center on Employment

The NTID Center on Employment is a site that provides services for
students and employers. Navigating the links is easy and leads to
resources about job searching, opportunities, and information on hiring
deaf and hard of hearing employees. The jobs and links listed are
primarily targeted for NTID students and alumni.

This network provides free information and referrals on ways to make
accommodations for people with sensory limitations (vision, hearing,
speech), motor limitations, neurological functioning, multiple limitations,

etc.

This organization helps find workable solutions to employing persons
with disabilities through the National Job Development and Placement
Project, a quarterly magazine for Employment in the Mainstream, and
an information center. The Mainstream Information Center develops and
distributes materials on disability in the work place. Materials with
tips on job search, resume writing, and interviewing for consumers with
disabilities are available.
Vocational Rehabilitation/ Rehabilitation Services Agencies
Every state has a Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) agency that helps
people with disabilities attain or maintain satisfactory, gainful employment.
Some of the services provided to eligible clients are counseling and
guidance, job training or placement, or restoration (i.e., assistance
with the purchase of hearing aids). The VR process involves: application
for services, evaluation for eligibility, determination of eligibility,
writing and accomplishment of the Individual Plan for Employment (IPE),
follow-along services, and case closure. VR counselors work with clients
to determine the appropriate services needed to attain the agreed upon
