Portfolios for Student Growth Workshop
Portfolios for Student Growth: Linking Academics and Self-Awareness for Lifelong SuccessFor K-12 Educators, Transition Professionals, and Administrators
Educators face the daunting challenge of meeting No Child Left Behind accountability requirements without sacrificing the larger aim of preparing students to succeed in life. Portfolios for Student Growth (PSG), designed for use with deaf and hard of hearing students, offers a holistic way to accomplish both. PSG links academic learning with postsecondary planning and goal setting. Through the portfolio process, students develop the self-awareness, goal-setting, and decision-making skills essential for lifelong self-determination.
Over the course of this three-day workshop, participants will design a portfolio framework to meet the needs of their school, classroom, or students. The training is highly interactive and individualized.
Participants will:
- Receive a comprehensive overview of PSG viewing actual student portfolio examples
- Learn how outcomes, as the basis for portfolios, incorporate assessment and reflection as a self-awareness learning tool
- Learn the steps for portfolio creation and management to apply to their own schools and programs
