Team 6-7-8's ASL/English students win second prize!

The Global Virtual Classroom Contest is a global team cooperation and website-building activity for students from 7 to 18 years of age. Schools from around the world collaborate to build websites that are judged on the quality of their content and presentation, and on the collaboration. Team 6-7-8's third period ASL/English students teamed with students from two other schools, Waitomo Caves School in Waitomo Caves, New Zealand, and Merton Elementary School in Cote St. Luc, Quebec, Canada to build a website on the topic of Backyard Animals. The team's website was judged by a panel of VIP judges and won the second place prize.

The KDES students voted to use the $500 award money to purchase digital video equipment for the team.

One week to go! Check the progress of our GVC web site.

You and will choose one of the following topics and do research with a partner on that topic. After researching the topic, you will write, draw, or sign a summary of your research.

Pets Gone Wild

These animals were brought to our country as pets and were later set free. Those animals now threaten the environment.

Our Animal Friends

Did you know that many of our pets were once wild? Dogs, cats, horses, all were wild animals until man domesticated them over many years. For this topic you will research the history of a pet of your choice. Or write a story about your own pet or a school pet.
