Seniors Participate in
Multinational
Launching of NETDAY
Activities |
On May 9, 1997 the Model Secondary School for the Deaf participated in a
multinational NETDAY press event.
Senior team students communicated with students from
South Africa, Costa Rica, and French American students in California in a
videoconference using CU-SeeMe technology.
Through this event students
demonstrated their expertise and helped to spread the word about the value
of bringing the Internet into the classroom. The event signified the
launching of
NETDAY efforts in several other
countries similar to the volunteer effort
happening here at MSSD (
April 19
, July 12 and
September 23,
etc) and in many other schools in the US.
 | We wish to recognize and
offer our
thanks to our donors for this event:
The GLOBE Program who extended the
invitation to participate,
NASA HQ/Goddard, Cisco Systems, and
Boeing for their generous
technical support. |
|
Connectix donated a video
camera and stand, White Pine gave us the CU-SeeMe
software, and thanks to Magnavox
for a 29" Internet TV.
We also wish to thank Dr. H. David Snyder, Gallaudet
Chemistry and Physics
Department for his technical assistance and support,
Lloyd Ballinger and the staff of Gallaudet
Computer Services for all their efforts, and of course, great support
and
technical assistance from our own extraordinary Phil Mackall and
his very capable staff. Thank you
all!
