Making Rockets
|
|
Some of the children began to make small rockets using juice and milk cartons and various other items. They enjoyed this experience, but wanted to make bigger and better space stuff. |
|
|
Following the children’s suggestions, we searched for materials to create a big rocket. One of the parents kindly donated some big boxes. Four boys decided they wanted to plan and create this rocket. They looked at books and used their imaginations and developed these plans for the big rocket.

After completing their plans, the boys drew enlarged versions on the boxes. Then they were ready to paint the big rocket. |

The
children drew these plans to design the inside of the big rocket.
They wanted buttons, wires and computers in the rocket.
Juwan wanted to add lights. Max
wanted to see the planets outside. Rushi
wanted to press buttons. Brennan
wanted machines in the rocket. (For driving)
Kelsey wanted dials and screens. Materials were collected and the
project began to take shape. |

| The children covered the inside of the rocket with foil and wallpaper paste. Then they began to add their buttons, computers, machines, screens, dials and rocket stuff until they were satisfied with the results. | ||
