Trip to Air and Space Museum

We decided to further our information and experiences by taking a trip to the Air and Space Museum.  We saw space suits, went inside of a real rocket, watched a film of the first Moon landing, saw a lunar rover and gained even more “first hand” knowledge of rockets and space.

What did you see?  What did you like best?

Max:  I went inside of the rocket.  I saw a chair and an exercise bike.  I saw food floating.

Juwan:  I saw a big rocket.  I saw space suits.

Ronald:  I rode the escalator.  I went into the rocket.  I saw the shower.  The rocket was small.  (Inside).  I saw straws for the food.
Brennan:  I saw a cartoon moon talking.  I saw an astronaut sitting on the chair inside of the rocket.  I saw many many rockets.
Amina:  I saw an airplane.  I saw two balls move.  Air pushed them.  They touched.  I saw a spinning chair.
Cristhian:  I rode the escalator.  I went into a rocket.  I saw a chair.  I saw a rocket blast off.  I saw a small rocket.  I saw the Moon.  I saw a rocket land on the Moon.
Joseph:  I watched the TV.  I saw a rocket take off.  I saw the astronaut driving.  I saw the rocket land on the Moon.  I saw the astronaut walk and float.  I saw the bath thing in the rocket.  Rushi:  I liked it best when we were inside of the rocket and Steve was explaining about floating and gravity.  And I liked it best when we were walking around the rockets.  I liked it best when we went into “How to Fly.” Anthony:  I saw the rocket take off.  I saw the astronaut walk and float. (On the moon.)  I saw Venus.  It is hot!  I saw planes and rockets.  I saw Earth.  The rocket took off.  It went far.  I saw the moon.  The astronaut was floating.  I sat in a plane.  I turned the steering wheel.  The rudders moved.
Adrian:  I liked the rocket.  It flew.  I saw planes.  I looked at the stars.  I saw the Sun.    I saw the Moon.
Kelsey:  I liked the Moon rocks.  I liked watching them land on the Moon.  I saw the planet Mars.  I saw Venus.  It was hot!
As you can see, this experience touched the children in various ways.  Each child took some significant memory or experience to bring back to the classroom to spark their interest and imagination.
