2005 Fall Showcase
Students learn to use their bodies as a
valuable tool of expression through mime, gesture, and body language.
Bye
Bye Birdie, was MSSD's 2005 production. Bye Bye Birdie is
a smash musical hit from the ’60s that provides rollicking
fun for today’s
audience. The plot revolves around rock and roll superstar Conrad
Birdie and the complications that arise when his agent stage
a publicity stunt on The Ed Sullivan Show in which he
will kiss one lucky girl from Sweet Apple, Ohio, before being
drafted into the Army.

Winter Dance Concert 2006
The 2006 Winter Dance Concert will be held on February 16th, 17th, and 18th, and will include a variety of genres: Latino dance, Jazz, Modern dance, Hip Hop, Pop Luck, Urban Jazz, Funk and Ballet.
This concert will feature MSSD students who will perform a variety of dance genres choreographed by well-know deaf and hearing choreographers.
This year’s program includes dances by the following choreographers:

2006 Spring Play—A Cinderella's Fantasy Story in American Sign Language

Students learn how to direct a play using character development along with the art of stage make-up and other skills that are needed to produce a successful play. Students also learn the process of teamwork. Personal growth comes from learning how to coordinate all the various elements together.
Cinderella never had it this bad. In A Cinderella Story—a twisted and hilarious update of the classic fairy tale—a deaf girl named Cinderella, lives at the beck and call of her self-obsessed step-mother and her sinfully wicked step-sisters who treat her more like a servant than a member of the family. With her sight set an leaving home, Cinderella finds her less-than-sparkling life wonderfully complicated when she meets her prince charming.
The MSSD production is directed by Maria Solovey and Assistant, Suzette Evringham.

2006 International Awareness Week
During International Awareness Week, students
had the opportunity to learn about other cultures. Students
got to sample international food, see clothing worn by people
in other countries, and see a panel discussion about the traditions
of the world. Respect for diversity and ethnic tolerance is encouraged
by all students.
