on Gallaudet's Campus
Automobile
From the north:
Take Interstate 95 South to the Baltimore-Washington Parkway (Route
295). Exit Route 295 at Route 50/New York Avenue. Turn left at Bladensburg
Road (the first stop sign light on New York Avenue); right on Mt. Olivet
Road (the second stop light on Bladensburg); left on West Virginia Avenue
(the second stop light on Mt. Olivet); right on Florida Avenue (the
first stop light on West Virginia), and proceed to the first right turn
onto the Gallaudet campus.

your way on campus.
From the South:
Take Route 395 North into Washington via the 14th Street Bridge. Exit
at 6th Street, SE and proceed north to Florida Avenue, NE. Make a right
turn onto Florida Avenue. At the next light, make a left into Gallaudet's
main entrance.

From the Northwest:
From Connecticutt Avenue South, go past Chevy Chase Circle to Military
Road. Turn left onto Military Road and continue. Military Road becomes
Missouri Avenue after you cross Georgia Avenue. Continue on Missouri
Avenue until North Capitol Street. Make a right onto North Capitol Street
and stay to the right until you pass Michigan Avenue. Then get into
the left lane. Continue one block past Florida Avenue and make a left
onto P Street. Make a right onto Florida Avenue. Continue on Florida
Avenue past New York Avenue. Make a left into Gallaudet's main gate,
which is located at 800 Florida Avenue, NE.

MetroRail:
Take MetroRail to Union Station on the red line. This is the closest
station to Gallaudet University. Gallaudet
University has a shuttle bus to and from campus.
To take Metrobus the rest of the way to the campus, you will need
to cross over Massachusetts Avenue at the light. Take the "D"
bus --either the D4 or D8 bus-- to the intersection of 8th and K Streets,
Northeast. Get off the bus and walk two short blocks north (to your
left) on 8th Street. 8th Street will deadend at Florida Avenue, Northeast
and that is also the main entrance to the University.

Cab companies charge by zones and so, therefore, the cost will be
determined by the number of zones you cross through. It costs approximately
$5 - $8 to get to Gallaudet from points downtown.

Airplane
From Reagan National
Airport
Washington National Airport, near Alexandria, VA, is the airport closest
to the University. You can either take a taxi, rent a car, or take Metro
(the city's subway system) to get to the University. If you choose to
take a taxi, there is a taxi stand in the front of the airport. If you
want to take Metro, either walk to the National Airport metro station
--it's only a short distance-- or hop on a shuttle bus tht can bring
you and your luggage to the metro station.
From BWI (Baltimore-Washington
International Airport)
Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI) is located approximately
60 minutes from downtown Washington and serves both the nation's capital
and Baltimore. For airport information, call 301-859-7100.
Taxi fare: approximately $40 (agree on price with driver before leaving
BWI)
Airport bus service: approximately $14 one way/$25 round trip.

From Dulles
Washington Dulles International Airport, where many transcontinental
and international flights land, is a modern facility in Virginia about
45 minutes from downtown Washington. For airport information, call 703-471-7838
Monday through Friday, 9 am - 5 pm.

every half hour

Train
Take AMTRAK to Union
Station in Washington, DC. Union Station is approximately one mile southwest
of the University.
To get to the campus from Union Station, you can either take a taxi
from the taxi stand in the front of Union Station or take a metrobus.
